WASHINGTON, D.C. – The news is chilling enough: a man stalks a group of Republican members of Congress practicing baseball for a charity event and attacks them with what appears to be an SKS (early AK-47) and a semi-automatic pistol.
He intended to kill the men and women on the field because he disagrees with their political policies.
But for the fact that the team’s second baseman, Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.), is a member of the Republican Congressional leadership who is given a security detail, all these leaders could have been massacred.
Politics aside, the question for preppers, survivalists or those who prefer calling it the self-reliance lifestyle is how would you react if a gunman attacked you? Do you have access to active shooter training near you?
Now, we have actual video of the gunman firing on the unarmed Congressional members and their staff. Even though it doesn’t contain any blood or graphic scenes (there is some adult language), it will impact you.
Ask yourself, are you prepared for this? Can you identify where the shooting is coming from? Even if you’re armed, do you know what to do next? Are you willing to charge this attempted murderer or engage him in any way? Should you attend to the wounded first (no, clear the threat first)?
