GREENVILLE, Ohio – One of the survival industry’s favorite retailers has changed its name and added a new mission.
For years, The Canteen Shop won favor among shoppers looking for quality, unique survival gear. The company delivered good hard-to-find products, often homemade, at fair prices. Local shoppers also knew it as a small, comfortably designed retail shop with a sizable online presence.
But in the last few months, owner Robert Simpson let his customers know about a change.
Now called Lost Wild Outdoors, the retailer still offers the kind of products survival gear enthusiasts need, but Simpson went one step further by adding a regular diet of bushcraft and survival training opportunities to his offerings.
For instance, this month customers could take a class on using tarp shelters for survival. In addition, website visitors can download numerous PDFs focused on bushcraft skills. More than 15 PDFs focused on bushcraft and survival skills gives customers plenty to chew on, even if they don’t live in the area and can’t attend the classes personally.
The products haven’t really changed though. They are still the kind of original, homemade products customers enjoy such as paracord straps woven for carrying cooking tools or wool blankets.
On his website, Simpson makes it pretty clear his mission hasn’t changed, “We are proud to be one of the best suppliers of unique bushcraft, camping, hiking, and survival gear.”
Luckily for fans, with a little bit of searching, they’ll find more than good products.
