ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – Gun training is moving into the modern world yet again, and this time people on Florida’s east coast can learn to use firearms in a simulator without ever shooting a real bullet.
In this town west of Orlando, anyone looking to improve their survival skills can visit the local gun shop, Freedom Guns, and enhance their skills in the recently installed laser-training simulator dubbed the “Firearms Experience.”
With simulations ranging from “shoot and don’t shoot” scenarios and active shooter scenarios to target practice, it’s a win-win for any skill level.
“It uses laser weapons that are realistic and accurate. You can hone your skills in a fun and safe setting,” said Michael Comerford, co-owner of the two-year-old Freedom Guns.
And it’s the only laser-training simulator within a 50-mile radius.
“The device looks and feels like a real gun, and is ideal for practicing shooting in a safe environment,” noted Comerford. “You can practice shooting moving targets or get involved in realistic home-invasion scenarios.”
Comerford, a retired police officer, and fellow owner Robert Ayers are gun enthusiasts and hunters. In their estimation, this was the best of the best.
“It is the best because it puts you in a real-world situation, but is totally safe,” concluded Ayers.
To see it in action, watch the Freedom Guns YouTube video. And if you’re around the shop on May 26, the guys are offering a “Ladies Only” concealed weapons course. There are only 20 seats available. To register, visit http://www.freedom-guns.com.
